Resources for reading the Bible in 2021

1. YouVersion plans

  • Bible Project reading plans (Old and New Testament) - these help you plan to get through in a year and also contain links to book overviews and videos.

  • Bible in 90 days reading plan - with about 45 minutes of reading/listening to the Bible per day you can get through in 90 days.

2. New City Catechism app - has two age categories (similar to Heritage's 3 age categories for Heritage of Truth), Bible verses for each question, and a devotional with each question. It is definitely aligned to the Heidelberg catechism.

3. Zondervan Master lecture series - has many helpful lectures to teach theology, Bible History and content, and apologetics, suitable for kids. See especially the Tim Challies recommended playlist. You can get a 14-day free trial and after that it's an investment of $19.99 monthly, or $14.99/mo with an annual subscription.

4. Truth78 Bible Memory app (FighterVerses.com) - comes with a plan of 72 foundational verses for children to memorize as well as 2 5-year memorization plans already loaded. You can also create your own list of verses utilizing a number of translations. It has many memorization tools including a method scripture typer used to type the first letter of each word, one where it captures what you say to determine accuracy of the memorized verse, etc. At $2.99 it is a great investment.

5. Scripture typer (BibleMemory.com) - a helpful app that is available for free. It utilizes several translations and you load in the passages you want to work on. It's like the previous recommendation without the extras or prepared plans.

6. Handbook to Prayer helps you to pray Scripture back to God in categories of adoration, confession, affirmation, intercession, supplication, thanksgiving, and closing.
